When a roll of filaments is exhausted, the printer can automatically switch to another roll of filaments of the same material and color, thus ensuring the continuous printing process without interruption. This function is particularly suitable for large models that need to be printed for a long time, effectively reducing the frequency of manual intervention and filament replacement, and improving printing efficiency and ease of use.
Before printing, you need to make Settings on the control screen first. Please click on "Filaments" button to enable the "Filament backup" function.
Then, the same filaments were placed in different material troughs in ACE Pro. The types and colors of the filaments were consistent.
When two rolls of filaments of the same material and color are placed in the ACE Pro device and the filament backup function is enabled, the filament backup function will be activated.
If official filaments with RFID chips are used, the ACE Pro device will automatically identify the color and material of the filaments. Then there is no need to set the color and type of filaments.
If you use filaments from a third-party manufacturer or official filaments without RFID, you need to manually set the filaments for both channels to the same color and material in the filaments settings interface, and then enable the filament backup function.

The filament backup function works best when switching between filaments of the same material and color. Avoid mixing different materials (such as PLA and PETG) or colors to prevent affecting the quality of the model.
Please ensure that the spare material rolls have been correctly installed and are consistent with the main material; otherwise, the system may fail to recognize or cause abnormal feeding during switching.
Pipe wear or blockage may lead to switching failure. It is recommended to maintain and replace PTFE tubes regularly, especially when the automatic feeding function is frequently used.
Please ensure that the filament rolls are not entangled, knotted or have excessive resistance to avoid affecting the system detection or feeding.
Some filaments (such as nylon and TPU) are sensitive to humidity. It is recommended to store them in drying boxes to prevent clogging or abnormal printing due to moisture absorption.
Make sure the printer has enabled the automatic material replenishment function and correctly specify each material slot in the filaments management.
