Due to the need to rotate upward during the replacement of the Z-axis lead screw,
it is more convenient to disassemble the lead screw from the anti-backlash component when the lead screw at the bottom of the anti-backlash component is shorter.
Therefore, it is recommended to zero the Z-axis before disassembling.
Power on the printer, go to the main menu, select "Settings," click on "Move," and then click on "All Home" or the "house" icon on the right to zero the Z-axis.
Before replacing the Z-axis lead screw, make sure the device is turned off and the power is disconnected for safety.
Use an S3.0 Allen key to unscrew the top bearing fixing shims on both sides of the Z-axis, remove the bearing fixing shims and the gantry's top aluminum profile,
and place them aside for later installation.
Use an S2.0 Allen key to remove the 2 screws on any side of the Z-axis lead screw synchronous wheel, take off the synchronous wheel and Z-axis synchronous belt.
Place all removed parts aside for later installation. If no lead screw is exposed, try rotating the synchronous wheel to expose it.
Disassemble according to the number of lead screws that need to be replaced.
If you need to replace the lead screws on both sides, you also need to disassemble the synchronous wheel on the other side in the same way.
The subsequent disassembly steps are based on one side of the lead screw.
If you need to replace the lead screws on both sides simultaneously, the other side's lead screw is also disassembled and installed in the same way.
Use an S2.5 Allen key to loosen the 1 lead screw on the coupling. Once loosened, the lead screw can be moved.
Wear gloves to avoid getting hands dirty, grasp the top of the lead screw, and rotate it counterclockwise to remove it from the anti-backlash component.
Press the anti-backlash component, take out the new lead screw, and rotate it clockwise through the anti-backlash component by grasping the top of the lead screw.
If there is resistance when rotating the lead screw, try loosening the force slightly to ensure the lead screw can be installed normally.
Press the new Z-axis lead screw, after the Z-axis lead screw is fully embedded in the coupling, use an S2.5 Allen key to tighten the 1 lead screw on the coupling.
Take out the previously removed belt and synchronous wheel, first pass the belt around the unscrewed synchronous wheel on the other side,
then pass the belt around the previously removed synchronous wheel, and finally install the synchronous wheel on the Z-axis lead screw.
If you are replacing the lead screws on both sides simultaneously, you can install one side's synchronous wheel first and then install the other side according to the above steps.
Take out the previously removed gantry's top aluminum profile, bearing fixing shims, and screws.
① Place the aluminum profile on the gantry, ensuring that the side with the "Anycubic" logo faces you directly.
② Insert the bearing fixing shim into the installation groove at both ends of the top aluminum profile, and simultaneously sleeve the bearing onto the lead screw.
Use an S3.0 Allen key to pre-lock the screw by aligning the holes, then adjust the position of the bearing fixing shim and tighten the screw.
Apply a small amount of lubricating grease to the surface of the Z-axis lead screw along its height.
Then, select "50mm" distance and click the "Z+ arrow" to move the X-axis module upward. Click 5 times to the top.
At this point, apply a small amount of lubricating grease to the surface of the Z-axis lead screw motor.
Then, click "Home All" or the "house" icon on the right to zero the Z-axis.
Repeat this process to ensure the lubricating grease covers the entire surface of the lead screw. Finally, wipe off any excess grease.
It is recommended to perform regular maintenance on the Z-axis lead screw according to the following steps,
typically every three months or when you hear abnormal noises when moving the Z-axis.
These are indicators that the Z-axis lead screw needs maintenance.
For specific operating steps, refer to the maintenance recommendations for the Kobra 2 Plus device.
You can directly jump to the maintenance instructions for the corresponding accessories from the left directory.
